I have over 19 years Counselling experience and over 9 years experience in Psychotherapy gained within the N.H.S, corporate and my own private practice since 1996.
I originally trained as a Social Worker in 1980 Initially with a generic case load but spent the last 13 years of my career as part of the psychiatric hospital team having an ASW role within the Mental Health Act 1983. My initial training as a Counsellor was with the Egan model, a problem solving approach with a humanistic person centered underpinning. I later trained for 4 years in Transactional Analysis and then completed a 2 year MSC taught course in Integrative Psychotherapy emphasising the role of the relationship in the healing process. I believe that the therapeutic relationship exerts a healing influence in many ways.
In accordance with the B.A.C.P. ethical framework I am in regular supervision, client anonymity is always maintained. www.bacpco.uk/eithicalframework.
Feelings of being overwhelmed, distressed, dissatisfaction in life and unhappiness can arise in all of us at anytime in our life. The above are just some of the experiences that suggest people may wish to consider Counselling or Psychotherapy. Revelations can be uncomfortable or even painful and emotional.
